The current lists, the last 7 days of day files, 7-day topic histories, the feed and the MCP server are free and keyless. Four things cost money, each paid per call in USDC on Base with the x402 protocol: no account, no key, no subscription.

How payment works
Send the request; the answer is 402 Payment Required whose JSON body carries an accepts list (scheme exact, network Base eip155:8453, asset USDC, payTo 0xc91cE6291eDC0713ec753BAFBA002506ffb2b95c, maxAmountRequired in base units: 10000 = $0.01, 50000 = $0.05, 250000 = $0.25, 1000000 = $1.00) plus code, message and hint. Sign the EIP-3009 authorization for that amount, resend the identical request with the X-PAYMENT header, and the facilitator (facilitator.payai.network) verifies and settles it on chain before the response is returned. Unpaid GET and HEAD requests always receive the 402, never a 405. Prices in /.well-known/x402 and openapi.json (x-payment-info) are identical to the challenges. Nothing is charged for a day, range or topic that does not exist: those answer 404 first. Settlement is final; there are no accounts to refund.
